Start motor Fordson Dexta

Can somebody tell me witch start motor is the best to buy! Agriline sell two startmotor. Item number 50097 Starter Motor. As Original and item number 5269 Starter Motor Key Op! Can someone advise me whitch I can better buy?

I guess it depends whether you want to keep your tractor original or not.

The orginal starter is lever operated.
The second starter you mention is like your car - just turn the key! I don't know how well these work - perhaps someone here has got one? I see the key-operated starter is £50 cheaper - so the choice is yours!
Or you could recondition your original starter - kits are available. Whatever you do don't throw your original starter away, there is a market for old ones.

The key starter is of the pre-engaged type e.g. you turn the key and the solenoid pulls the starter dog into mesh with the flywheel ring gear. Once the solenoid reaches full travel, the start contacts are made and current passes through to the motor and the engien starts. This is as per pretty much all starters from the last 30+ years.
The standard dexta setup requires the starter dog to be engaged via a lever and hence is qutie different.
