help! got a problem,I have fallen heir to a dexta pick up hitch problem is someone has cut off the two slotted links, there should be one either side.could someone who has a pick up hitch please help by providing the dimentions so I can make new ones

Here you go.
I cannot find my vernier so just check the diameter of the pins you have that go through the thing.
My links have a little steel moon shaped 'shoe' in the bottom of them as a wearing surface. I am not sure if this is original or someones addition. I am not sure if they are meant to be moon shaped or flat topped either. It is all rather worn.
These shoes have a blind 5/16 UNF thread in them.
The links are cast or forged parts so about 1" 7/8 across at the parting line and more like 1"3/4 at the edges where the taper runs out.
I think my measurements are ok but all the links on my Dexta are rather worn.

Edit: It was raining windy and horrid outside so the piece of paper was rapidly turning to mush..

Hi Brian

My dexta is 1960.
I just looked in the 1958 instruction book I have and there is no sign of the little shoe thing mentioned.
That might be something someone added to make it lift a bit higher rather than fixing the hydraulics and the worn out bits on the hitch itself.
I have been sorting the hitch out today
I am going to try my lift without those shoes. I suspect they are an addition and I would make the links without them to start with and try it.

My dexta has little 'shoes' inside the slotted hole. The 8mm hole has 5/16 UNF bolts holding the little 'shoes' in. I am not sure if this is original or an addition to make it lift a bit higher. I would try it without. I am going to try mine without now that I have fixed the hydraulics and the hitch parts.

Just had a look on ebay under that number and yes it does show the parts. It doesn't show the little 'shoes' I have on mine. I reckon they are an addition to get it to lift higher without fixing the real cause of the problem.

back again, loked in e bay , I see now the links , dont know how i can make links with hole at one end

Don't drill the hole at the end.
I think that is only on my links as a previous fix to get around a problem.

you believe it, went to a local tractor club small display, 8 tractors,one of which is a dexta with hitch. All has been revealed. Got a great look, checked mine, the part of the links left on the tractor is the end with the hole which ihas a pin throughthem.no problem now , only need to shape a part link and weld on to original part. happy days,thanks for all the help.the forum comes up trumphs again

just a point, I hope the links are not cast iron which is hard to weld to.anyone know at all before i go to the welder?

Having a look at mine I think they are maybe a forged item.

welder coming on friday eve. fingers crossed he can weld on the new bits I have made from steel
