Damn weather..... Note - fit a tub on the exhaust.

I have just (well all afternoon) been out to put a throttle linkage clip on my Fordson Dexta.
I pulled out the exhaust to be able to remove the bonnet. Then I noticed the orangy mess down in the exhaust manifold. Peering down it I found it full of water..... bo**^%ks.....
It does have a little flappy thing on the top but the water must have been hitting the pipe and running down and in.
A quick sort out needed. It has only been about a week since it was last running so hopefully corrosion has not got too established.
Wet and dry hoover out and hoovered out the water in the manifold.
Rocker cover off.
Thin washers slipped in on top of the valves to crack the exhaust valves open.
Turned it over by hand whilst hoovering the manifold.
Turned it over slowly on the starter with the tractors own deadish battery with washers still in place to ensure the water had somewhere to go.
Lots of squelching and muck flying out of the exhaust.
Added a jump battery to spin it over faster.
More muck flying out.
Shims removed to get compression and started it.
A short period of steamy exhaust until it cleared.
Drain the oil that I only put in about a week ago.
Sump plate and strainer out.
Oil filter off and filter out.
Mopped around inside the sump to get rid of any water I could find in there.
Washed parts out.
Reassembly.
Fresh oil.
Started again and left running for 30 mins or so to get some heat into it.
Seems fine.... just hope the bores are ok. I don't have time to be stripping that down. At least all the parts are easily available.
Needless to say the exhaust is now out and an empty grease pot is over the exhaust manifold.
Grrr... 10 steps forwards and 9 back.
