is the only way to find my dextas reg. no. through the buff log book , which i dont have or if it was still legable painted on the bonnet ?? which i dont think it is anymore
or can it be done through the engine / casting numbers
if it ever actualy had a reg. number
i know the sports fields it mowed for some time but thats prob. 10 years + ago .

Sadly yes, I believe so.
Unless you have other evidence as to what the reg might have been, eg from the original owner.
If you have a possible reg number, then you can check this out through the county archives, but sadly their archives don't seem to record chassis/engine no, only date and owner.
Otherwise, just apply for an 'age related' no.

thats what i thought
lower bonnet has two bolt holes but no number plate fitted anymore

I applied for an age related number (633XUG) and DVLA from Bristol came out to take a look, the guy was there for all of five minutes just checking the engine and casting numbers. I had supplied photo's and a letter from the Cornish Tractor club man but that wasn't enough apparently. 6 days later I received the log book and no plate certificate.

I went through the exact same proceedure with my Dexta age related number I was given 410XUE.
