Anyone know where I can get my original starter rewound and new brushes installed in the US? I miss my cool starter lever that I took off when I put on an aftermarket starter las year. I have asked a few shops locally, but they don't want to mess with it????

Hay Neighbor.... there is a repair shop over here in Columbus that specializes in older equipment. they had the parts to repair my old massy starter (perkins) in stock, if my dexta ever needs starter work they will get first crack at it.

Thanks, Ol Blue.
Exactly what I was hoping for. Columbus is about 5 hours from me, but I get through there at least twice a year. I will call them and see what they can do. I have been to a few local places here in Indiana looking for Dexta parts, but not much luck. About a year ago, there was two Dextas on Craigslist out by French Lick, IN that were for sale. Neither ran but they looked in decent shape. Guy wanted $3000 for both, but my wife put up such a fuss, I had to pass.

I keep showing her pictures of the rebuilts on here and how magnificent they are. I explain how it is an investment to fix up the Dex. She just rolls her eyes.

I love her......I do......but after all , she is just a tractor. Oh And I love my wife too....LOL

I had problems with mine, some times it would not even turn at all, took it off opened it up,low and behold lots of dirty oily stuff and worn brushes also a broken brush spring,
cleaned it up fitted new brushes and a spring at low cost. Refitted and works like new now.
