Today I attempted to start my 1958 Dexta diesel. The lights will not burn. The oil pressure light does not come on and there is no response on the starter lever. I have tightened the connections and the battery is fully charged. For some time
the use of the heater would result in break in current. After a short interval current resumed and the starter would work. The horn button would also cause a break. Could this problem be caused by a bad switch? ( Lights and ignition are combined in one switch.) What about the relay or solenoid ? It appears that the relay and or main switch are the only common elements. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Your horn,oil pressure light ,starter solenoid are all tied together on one side of your heater switch. And they are all fed from the Battery terminal on your light switch. I'd check to see if these connections on both the light and heater switches are tight.

Thanks for your assistance. I found the problem. The connection of the wire to the battery cable at the solenoid had become loose. I replaced the connector.
