Strange Handbrake

Post by lankylad »

I seem to have a strange handbrake on my Dexta in that the pivot pin is on the inside rather than the outside of the handbrake assembly. Has anyone seen one like this before?

Thanks.

I don't suppose you know where I can get a schematic of how it fits together so I can see how to take it to bits?

sorry havent any any thing to copy from but there has been one of these pawls
on ebay uk of late for this type of hand brake they are stll made ,
, it may be also have been made for the fordson major i am near sure the part that
goes on to the axel is the same , the pawl teeth would need to corespond to teeth of the
of this.there is also a little rod to lift it up if im not mistaken

Are you wanting to remove the complete hand brake lever from the brake camshaft. :?:

I will have a look at home this w/end and see how my handbrake button etc. are put together and take a few pics. From what I recall, the rod has the button on the one end and a right angle bend with a tiny hole throught it for the split pin. This rod is trheaded down the throat of the hand lever, the bend protrudes toward the mudguard, you would then slip the pawl over the rod end replace the splitpin and bingo. You may have to remove the ratchet part that is bolted to the mudgaurd to give you space to work on the pawl piece. I have not put mine together yet but that is what my plan is going to be when I get to that stage.
