Hello from me and my Dexta!

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a house in Hampshire and it came with an old tractor. Turns out to be a Dexta.
I thought I'd try and post a few pics now by way of introduction and have something to look back on.
It doesn't seem in too bad condition and runs ok once started. It's a bit hard to get at anything because of the loader. I would like to take that off if it's not too big a job. I have a few issues that will no doubt give me the runaround but I'll also learn a lot in the process. I shall be looking for advice from you old Dextarians!

Here he is

It's hard to get on and off with the loader on

The downswept exhaust blows bad and hurts your eyes. I'll be looking to change to the one that peeps out of the bonnet

Haven't got a danny what half the knobs and levers are

First job will have to be sorting the starting/charging problems out.

Hope this works
Thanks
John

Loader comes off easy - just remove four pins, two on the arms & two on the rams. Tie the rams back against the frame, then leave the bucket & arms behind.

Removing the frame onto the back axle is a bit more involved, but it doesn't actually obstruct very much, only getting on/off the seat!

Looks a tidy tractor, lucky boy.

Hi John and welcome to the forum.
You have a tidy Dexta there!
You will find a wealth of help and info here and everyone is willing to help if they can.
Where are you in Hants?
Can I suggest you download the users handbook and workshop manual/parts list as they are a great help in understanding the Dexta.
There are several companies which stock parts for the Dexta if and when you want a part.
I have a manual for a steelfab loader which I intend to scan and put up on this forum as a source of info for others.
Cheers
Jerry

Thanks for the welcome chaps. The loader doesn't sound too hard to remove then but will have to wait till I can get it started. I have found the manuals thanks. I'm in Meonstoke (between Winchester and Portsmouth). Any other members from Hampshire?
Don't know anything about mechanics, previous experiance limited to giving it a 'good hard stare!' :D should be fun on the journey..

Thanks
John
