Rear brake springs

Where the 2nr 25mm dia circular brake 'shafts' enter the back of the rear brake housings, there is a 50mm dia or so 1.5mm thick washer and a tapered spring which slides over the shaft (and seems to stay in place by friction), 50mm or so long which keeps the washer tight against the back of the brake housing, i presume just to keep muck out.
Mine were very rusty...i have made the replacement washers up from 1.5mm thick stainless st work, but am struggling to find a spring to match. Surely this must be an itemthat needs to be replaced fairly regularly, but it doesnt seemto be aspare part kept by any of the usual suppliers.
I have been unable to find a 'standard' spring type from anywhere.
Can anyone help? Thanks all.
