now i have to ask this, when i put my foot on brake peddle the hand brake comes on and stays on i am sure that is not correct
i have the brake drum off and a hand brake repair kit so it might come clear as i work on it.

the brake came shaft goes through the hand brake and the cross shaft is linked to the hand brake and the foot brake so what stops the hand brake from staying on when i put my foot on the foot brake?

as i say it my become clear as i go but sitting in my office looking at the exploded view and the parts to fix it its as clear as mud

thanks in advance

What sort of hand brake do you have, a handle on the left or the earlier latch arrangement on the right?

Try freeing the handbrake (outer) shaft from the inner actuating shaft. There is a grease nipple half way along the outer.

Handbrake shouldn't move when you step on the brakes. Kiwimc has the answer.

hand brake is free on shaft, it only comes on when you use the right brake peddle
i am thinking it has something to do with cross shaft and bushes or the linkage from cross shaft to the hand brake
