I have a 1964 Super Dexta, that ended up with a frozen quadrant lever last year. (Slight upward pressure would cause it to lift but lever was stuck) Opened it up released where the quadrant lever had sort of rusted with the other bits. Checked all and lubricated, all valves seemed to slide well, cleaned and rebuilt the Qualicontrol and the rear spring which also was seized.Changed oil as was becoming emulsion and cleaned filter and replaced o rings. New gaskets, sealed leaky bolt holes to try and reduce water getting in there.
All back together, Quadrant lever moves, but now hydraulics will only lift 2 inches. Hid it away in big shed for 3/12’s, but now need it. Where have I gone wrong?? Any help please! Watched loads of YouTube but no real help!! Very despondent!!!
Did you make sure the adjustments are correct? Does this only happen with the selector lever in one position or both? I suspect you'll need to lift the top cover again, worth looking at the manual and Brian's guide on this. Need to know exactly what it does to what lever movement to be sure about what's happening.

Hi
I have been away, and went to check over hydraulics, oil filled to right level, may need to loosen main control spring a tad.
It doesn't matter where the selector lever is either. The lift arms appear to be partly raised and movement of the quadrant lever causes a small lift 1-2 inches. I have been trying to find Brians guide on this and have the manual but my cognition from an old brain injury is poor. Any pointers would be great please!! Thanks
Hi
Thanks for all the suggestions , but I think I could do with some help on this. I live South Shropshire 15 minutes from Tenbury Wells. Has anybody got recommendations for a mechanic who could service the Hydraulics of my 1964 Super Dexta? I have the top off, but could do with some help please!!! I will pay, as long as it’s not too silly!!!
Good evening, well my top cover and auxiliary service control has been taken apart, cleaned and all checked by a local tractor expert. He readjusted it all back to the settings in the manual, added a gasket to the main piston as previously hadn’t had one or needed one. New gaskets all round and put back on the tractor. Tractor started first time and the lift arms didn’t move up or down. Tried quadrant lever all the way up, about 1/2 inch of movement. Lift arms would not go down with 2 people standing on them, qualicontrol or auxiliary knob movements made no difference. Took cover off turned tractor over decompressed, oil welled up so pump working. Reattached lift cover and unbolted auxiliary service cover, and oil welled up out of the one hole but lift arms would not go down. As the tractor engineer said he’s a bit stumped and needs to just swap bits round, but he said he could find nothing wrong when he checked it through.
So couple of questions, could a stuck back pressure valve in the exhaust valve cause this?? Or has anybody out there got any better suggestions please! Thanks in advance!!
Have you checked the unloading valve? I doubt the back pressure valve will cause this as it's not in the exhaust from the cylinder, only the pump when recirculating. A sticking unloading valve can cause trouble like this. Also ensure the control valve bush is placed correctly, flush with the housing. The piston seal is absolutely necessary, otherwise nothing will seal it. Never try with external service valve pulled out, that isolates the cylinder.

Hi
Thanks for the answers, it is now going to be rechecked!
I have just driven it to my local vintage tractor specialist. He took all valves out, cleaned and checked, then used an airline to blow through checking them all, so a bit of a mystery! Will hopefully come up with an answer, I am afraid I haven’t a clue!!
Thanks and
Apologies to all, according to the tractor engineer who took it on, it was a very simple problem!! When I replaced the hydraulic cover on the tractor, I lifted on the lift arms, and as he said “ the donkeys dick” had disconnected!!
Now back to get her again and working, very embarrassed as it was such a simple fault!!
Thanks for all suggestions!!
