Lucas Dynamo models

Hi, my Lucas C39 Dynamo self destructed. Does anyone know if the Lucas C40 model will fit, as these seem to me more readily available ?
I would say yes as a USA website lists the C40 for FMDs. As well, my S/Major had a C40 before I converted to an alternator.
Be aware, though, that the diameter of the pulley and the mounting holes of the front and end brackets vary for different makes of engines.
