Post by Nick »

Hi guys, as some of you know my dexta diesels clutch is stuck on, it will not free by driving or rocking in gear. So i am going to replace it, agriline list a complete dual clutch kit, is it as simple as un bolting the old one and fitting the new one?
Oh yay, look, another seized bolt! Lets get a hammer.....and some kano.....and some cider!

I have a Citroen light 15 which is prone to the clutch sticking after being driven in the rain. It stuck fast a few years back and even after driving it for 10km with the clutch in it was still stuck, even though some of that was hills and I have to say I gave it a hard time to try and free it.

An old guy from Auckland told me a trick that worked. Jack one drive wheel off the ground, run the vehicle in second gear at about 1/2 throttle with the clutch in and pulse the brake on and off firmly. 3 or 4 pulses of the brake and the clutch was free. It was that easy. Worth a go on the Dexta, although you would need high range top gear I would think. Just be careful it does not come off the jack, block wheels etc.

Les, i am going to do exactly what you did with the bearings and oil seal, it makes sense to do it. Glad its fairly straight forward!

pjjms, If I did manage to free it that way i would always not know the condition of the clutch. If it was a working machine id probably give it a go, but as im doing it up and painting it, its not worth it. I wouldnt want to have to take it apart when it goes wrong in a years time

Fair point if you are painting. I would split it just to do the rear seal if painting as they all seem to leak there. Mine also leaked from the gearbox along the inner shaft which oiled up one of the clutch plates.
