Hello to all dexta gurus firstly I would like to say without this site I would not be as far on with my restoration, so a big thankyou to all. I am now at the painting stage and need to make a decision on her colour scheme. My super dexta is 1964, the tax book says: first reg was in April 1964 in Stewarton, Scotland. Chassis no. 09D914438. Colour is Blue/Grey I Know the wheels should be grey but the debate with my father is weather the wings and seat should by blue or grey. The remains of the origional wings seem to have been blue , but I want to leave her in her first colour scheme. Finally do I paint the front grills silver or grey. Hopefully someone can settle this one for me. May thanks in advance Chris McCann IP: Logged |

I don't think the front grills have been painted att all, from the factory. Propobly they have been coated with some kind of finish. For myself, i have painted the front grills orange. I know this is not right, but it looks good. [This message has been edited by Johan (edited February 20, 2005).] IP: Logged |

Chaps,Oh Johan!! You have no taste, orange grills! urgh. (only kidding) The Super Dexta was New Super Major blue which is slightly lighter than Empire Blue of the original Major and Dexta. They would normally have silver or Super grey grills and the wings, seat and wheels would be super grey. I forget the name of the blue and grey paints of the top of my head. ------------------ Brian IP: Logged |

Thanks lads for the replies. Brian, what you say makes sense to me. Can you find out the proper names of the paint and maybe the codes so I know what to order. Finally would there have been any posibility that a 64 super Dexta would have had blue wings leaving the showroom? Thanks again Chris IP: Logged |

Try your Case-New Holland dealer. they usually have the paint in stock. The rear wings could have been Dexta wings sprayed grey at the factory but the New Performance Super Dexta was always grey. ------------------ Brian IP: Logged |

Could the blue be called Imperial Blue? I read this somewhere but can't remember where and now can't find it. Do you know if it is the same as Ford Tractor Blue? I have seen Ford Tractor Blue and Empire Blue in my local CNH dealer stores but not Imperial and am therefore not confident it is right. I have a NP Super Major and will be looking for the correct colours when I come to paint it... but thats probably a while away yet!IP: Logged |

Cheers David, I must check that name out with my local paint dealer. he can supply me with 2 pack empire blue and ford grey. The ford tractor blue I have seen is very different fron empire blue. I believe it to be for more modern fords. I dont think it would be a choice at all for the fordsons.IP: Logged |
