dexta engine removal

I am planning on removing the engine from my dexta again in the spring or summer.
the reasons for removal are:
-The oil leak from the flywheel area, i did replace the cord seal last year so think it might be the sump-block seal.
-excessive breathing from the breather pipe. i suspect the piston rings are broken from the easy start the previous owner used.
-and i would like to check the bearings and pump whilst I have the Sump off.

last time I managed to remove the engine using the front axle(with wedges to prevent the engine falling over) and a trolly jack.

Can the sump be removed without removing the engine? or is the block not strong enough to support it's self?

how much would the engine weigh? and the sump?

my plan was to roll the engine onto it's side and remove the sump and pistons like that. I have no lifting gear only hydraulic jacks.
i know its alot of questions but i dont want to end up with an engine on the floor and no way of getting it back up.

Get yourself an engine crane and a leveling beam. Then engine removal & replacement is a doddle

thats what i thought but seems alot for a one time use. ill have to see what i can find.

They can be hired from the likes of HSS - not that expensive.

The engines are VERY heavy.

I can just about lift a bare block and two people cant lift the engine with sump (flywheel off)!
