Any Dexta's breaking in NE Scotland ?

Post by jstewart »

Hi Is there anyone breaking a dexta in the NE of Scotland ? I'm restoring a early one that looks to have been near the sea and everything on it is very corroded.

Hi there, being from the north east of scotland (banffshire) and being in the similar situation as yourself-i can testify they are very hard to come across, however i know of a few possibilities depending on the spares you require?

Hi thanks for the reply. I'm looking for all the tin work including the tacho cowls, all the throttle linkages and a air filter housing , Pretty much all steel work has rotted away. I'm in Banffshire too. I also have a friend looking for a super dexta block.

Ah,i see-being nosey....where abouts in banffshire are you? There is a guy up beside Newmill (near keith) who has a scrapyard full of old tractors,im almost certain there are a dexta or 2 there, but im not sure about what is available....his name is David (or Davy) Duncan....he used to work at Port services in Turriff.
As for the super dexta block,if Davy didnt have one Ian Campbell at Wembly (beside the bridge of marnoch near aberchirder) may have one.
Hope thats of help to you. :)

I'm in Keith. Davy Duncan has moved to just outside Huntly second road on the left heading towards Rhynie, Alistair Davidson who owns the site he was on at Keith still trades but has nothing just now. Davy has odds and ends but nothing I'm really looking for. I haven't been to wembly for a long time but they could be worth a look again. Where about are you ?

Its hardly the north east but there is a guy on the Isle of Lewis thats sells parts from alot of different tractors, but I would say that ebay is probably your best bet.

Hi thanks for all the help. I've managed to find a dexta for spares with quite a lot of good parts on it so hopefully that should keep me going for a while. :D

Not far from here at all then. No sorry I dont have a spare drawbar. The only spare one I had was sold to a friend of mine a few weeks ago with a late white wheeled dexta. I haven't worked out exactly all what I need from the spares tractor yet but I would think there will be some parts I wont use.
