Super major cranks

Post by Kre1979 »

Hi, does anyone know if there are any indentifcation marks/numbers in SM cranks? A friend has a few cranks and I want to get the correct one for my 61sm.
Many thanks

All cranks are the same with the exception of two.

The early tractors from 1952 to 1953 had a cast steel crank, most of which will have long been melted down. However they may be some still around, I have one in Henrietta.

The other difference is the size of the boss on which the timing gear fits, later cranks had a step for the gear to mount on. Old gears will not fit the later cranks and new gears will not fit the early cranks. Stepped cranks came in in June 1962.
