Hi all,
I'm trying to refurbish the king pin/stub axle assembly but I'm having trouble removing the lower bearing and bush from the cast axle. Most of the bearing is out, there wasn't much left of it to be honest, but the case is still in there. Does anyone have any tips?
I can't seem to knock it out from above as there's no real ridge to knock on, and I'd only be knocking the bush anyway not the bearing case.
I've tried gently heating the cast axle but doesn't help me much.
How have others tackled this task?
Thanks very much for your help,
Sam

Try running a bead of weld around on the bearing case. this will shrink it, and it should then be easy to remove.

Re: King pin lower bearing removal?
I didn't believe it, but this worked a treat! Thanks very much. Turned a pain-in-the-ar5e job into a pleasant job. It worked so well I used the same method to remove the shells from the second hub too.
Thanks, Sam
