How to fit new heater button rubber

Bit of an embarrasing question, I know how it fits, just cant get it on!!

Is there a trick to fitting a new heater button rubber? Can it be fitted without removing the dash panel?

Yes it just fits in the hole in the dash, with the edge of the dash in the groove around the rubber. No need to remove dash. Just wriggle it into position.

Have tried this but the rubber just isnt flexible enough - will try warming it in warm water to make it more plyable!

you often get a little sachet of 'rubber grease ' with brake spares , its red from memory that would prob help ,

is moly slip type grease safe around rubber ?

hot water alway helps with rubber hoses dont it

You want silicon grease for rubber.

If you have a new switch, you may find that the rubber is a bad fit as the switch mounting holes are in the wrong place.

I found that the new rubber jammed the switch, when used without a fair bit of modification.

I found by pushing a bit of the rubber lip in behind the hole, and then by turning it clockwise very slowly, it seemed to fit (after a lot of fiddling)
