Hydraulic Lift Problems

Post by Craig_P »

First off let me say Hello to everyone, My name is Craig Plessala. I live in south Louisiana and I am a new owner of an early 60s Super Dexta. I purchased my tractor from my wifes uncle. I am having problems with my hydraulic lift, I cleaned out the inside of the case and also cleaned the intake filter, the lift arms will not respond as they should when I raise the lift lever to the up position. As I raise the lift lever the arms will jump a few inches in certain areas of the quadrant, and I have to go past the stop on the quadrant to get the arms in the fully raised position. I pulled the lid off and checked the pin that rides on the cam that is know to wear, but it looks fine there in no wear visible at all. If I push the qualitrol lever all the way down the arms respond as they should and when released they go back down. Could I possibly have an issue with the linkage out of adjustment, or could it be the shuttle valve on the lift cylinder? Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Craig

Hi Craig,

Have you checked out the fault finding section of the workshop manual, Section 8? You can download it from this site. I found it quite helpful in diagnosing a fault with my hydraulics -- actually it turned out to be a worn pin in my case.

Chris
