Hi Gerry,
try this link: www.caroni.it
Caroni are very reliable mowers available worldwide. I do own one for years that I use with an Iseki TS1610 without any problem. Mine is 150cm, as the Iseki is only 19hp. The Dexta is able to cope with something larger...
Best regards,

Hi Gerry,

A topper is designed to deal with long grass, it generally has a single large blade and leaves a fairly rough finish.

A finishing mower will give a finish similar to a lawn mower, it usually has three smaller blades and leaves a good finish when used on shorter grass. It will not cope very well with long grass.

I have an old Kubota finishing mower, I have extended the lower link hitches outwards because in its original condition it fouled on the wheels on my Dexta, I think that you would have the same problem with other mowers designed for mini tractors.

It can be a bit of a pain using a single cluch Dexta on these mowers as the inertia that builds up in the mower pushes the tractor forward even after you have depressed the clutch. A dual clutch is better or alternatively an over-run clutch can be fitted on the PTO.

There a number of makes of finishing mower available.

You have another option too Gerry. You could always buy a sprayer, then spray your grass with either whiskey or vodka.

It will then come up "half cut"!!! :run:

set of gang mowers would do a nice job, a set of ransomes mounted ones with pto driven oil pump to drive the blades has its own in and out of gear handle so not having a dual clutch wouldn't be a problem, i used to mow a 10 acre lawn for jcb with a set. if i remember right they were ransomes 214's.

you dont need to collect the grass it chops it very fine and short, the more you mow the better it gets, you'll end up with a finish as good as a garden lawn.

Gerry,
do hope you have dual clutch (life hydraulics - and PTO !)
Otherwise the inertia of the blades will push the tractor foreward when you clutch down, unless you install a "Free Wheel Overrunning Clutch".

my dexta is standered s/ clutch non live drive Jos, will this be a big problem for a pull behind mower, how much forward would the tractor be pushed , cm or meters, can this damage the tractor or is it just a hassel, i also wouldnt like to end up buying a mower that i would be wary of useing , , i thought just get a mower for the dexta hook it up and work away  ,anyway thanks for your input Jos. A lot of mowers have an over run clutch installed as standard but not all.

We have two, one with and one without. If I use the one without on Henrietta, then I have to be very careful as the inertia makes it hard to get out of gear and clutch plus brakes will not stop you quickly. I have developed the knack of whipping the PTO out of gear before I get to the headland but it is not the best. That is why Dotty has now taken over mower duties and with her live clutch she is brilliant!

Nuffy has an independant clutch so again she is good on it.

it wont matter with a gang mower as soon as you pull it out of gear or press the clutch the blades stop dead!

Hi,
Does mowers include Toppers?
My Dexta has a single clutch, so will I need a topper with an over-run clutch?
Thanks,

I use a heavy single bladed topper on a tractor without live drive. The inertia of the blade will push you several meters forward after the clutch is depressed. Tried knocking the PTO out of gear before I had to stop which was hazardous and cut out the hydraulic lift.
Bought an over run PTO clutch from Malcolm Hipperson for about £40 two years ago - problem solved.. Topper keeps turning.Tractor stops moving

Thanks for the info.
What type of topper do you have (a pic would be great!!), and is it suitable for a Dexta? How short can you cut the grass with it and is hitting stones etc with a blade topper (as opposed to a flail chain type) a disaster?
I've been advised to get an older, lighter topper as the newer ones tend to have heavy guards etc - any advice appreciated
Thanks again,

Select-O-Speed Dexta?

Great link thanks. Some mower

Would it be feasible to mate a select-o-speed ('jerkomatic'?) gearbox to a Dexta ?

RM-990

Post by WayneB »

I have a Woods RM-990, which is a 7.5 foot (2.6 meter) finish mower, that is heavy duty enough to use all out with the Dexta and Super Dexta. I has three blade, with stump jumper blades.

I have 5 acres of yard and more than 50 acres of pasture. The Super Dexta handles this mower awesomely.

Select-o-Speed Dexta

Post by The Swanndri Guy »

Hey Bendexta, rather than "mate"a select-o-speed gearbox to a Dexta, would it be good enough reason/excuse to buy a 3000-5000 with select-o-speed? TSG.

A local farmer, who has just started a small caravan park.bought a 5 foot teagle finnishing mower with 3 blades last season,
it makes a nice a very neat job with very little mess
the first couple of cuts were hard work for the tractor but once the grass was cut short enough about 1 & 1/4" it is very quick to get a lawn like finish
